Dear Parents/Guardians,

Johnson O’Malley is a federal program whose main objective is to ensure Tribal Citizens receive educational opportunities that would not otherwise be provided through the public school system.  JOM is a supplemental program providing special services to JOM Students based on the needs of individual communities. The Cherokee Nation Johnson O’Malley Program - or commonly, JOM – is designed to provide supplemental and/or operational support to public schools within the Cherokee Nation reservation serving eligible JOM students from three years of age through 12th grade.  The desired outcomes of this program are to increase student achievement levels and encourage the use of cultural enrichment initiatives within the JOM programs in place in public schools.

The Ketchum Schools Indian Education Committee (IEC) will be having a special meeting on October 6, 2026, at   6:00 PM in the Ketchum Admin Board Room located at the High/Middle School building.  The meeting will be held for the purpose of holding the JOM Annual Election.  Any parent or guardian of an eligible student (JOM recognized student) may be nominated and elected to the IEC.  Please contact the JOM coordinator for additional information.  Any parent, community member, or others interested may attend the meeting.

Sincerely,

Jamie Sutton
