playground
Ketchum Elementary, August 27,  2023 – This summer, Ketchum Elementary School received an exciting makeover with the addition of brand-new playground equipment. Among the highlights is a captivating piece known as the Spinami, a modern-day merry-go-round that's already spinning its way into the hearts of the students.

The Spinami isn't the only star of the show; the playground also boasts four climbing cubes that challenges young climbers to conquer new heights, while a dynamic jungle gym complete with slides and monkey bars invites kids to swing and slide.

Adding to the excitement is the already beloved Gaga Ball pit, the nine-square game that keeps everyone engaged and active, and swings that offer a classic playground experience. And for those who love the thrill of competition, two tetherball poles and a basketball court await their energetic players.

To enhance the area, new plastic edging was installed around the new equipment and a hefty load of wood chips were spread to increase safety of students.

Future plans for the playground include concrete sidewalk to link the swing area with the existing basketball court as well as installing an outside water fountain and water bottle filler.

Looking ahead, the school envisions enhancing the play space even further. Sun shades would provide much-needed relief from the sun's rays, creating shaded spots for children to cool off while continuing their outdoor adventures. Additionally, the old map on the ground will be transformed into a vibrant hopscotch and four square game board, adding a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to the playground.

Our goal is to create an inclusive, engaging, and imaginative playground that encourages movement and physical fitness for all of our OK-5 students.
