Leslie Janis

Middle School Principal

I am absolutely delighted to be a Ketchum Warrior! Since becoming the elementary principal in the summer of 2000, I have grown quite attached to our students, families, faculty and community! Let me take the opportunity to share a little about myself.

I am the eldest of three children and grew up in the small town of Stilwell, OK. I cannot remember a time that I didn’'t want to be a teacher. Not only did I have several teachers who were strong influences on my career choice of education, but my family as well. When I was a little girl, I would to go to school with my grandmother, who was the school librarian, and pretend to be a teacher and librarian. But my primary inspiration was from my mother, who was a teacher for 30 years and my #1 mentor. I feel like education is my life and my calling and can'’t imagine doing anything else.

I received both my bachelor's and master's degrees from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. My Bachelor's Degree is in Education and my Master's Degree is in Education with emphasis on Vocational Education. Later, I took the required coursework to become an administrator. Prior to moving to Ketchum, I taught HS computer applications, accounting, keyboarding and humanities in Nowata and MS English in Vinita. I thoroughly enjoyed my 10 years in the classroom, but was ready for a new challenge.

My husband, Dan, and I have three children, Elizabeth, Cash and Drew. Our family enjoys traveling, relaxing at home, and boating on Grand Lake! When I have time to myself, I enjoy doing yard work, decorating and working Sudoko puzzles.

Jennifer Pool

Teacher

I was born and raised in McAlester, OK. I attended SOSU in Durant for 3 years and OSU for 1 year. I came to work at Ketchum as the Pre-School teacher in 1998. I taught Pre-K and Kindergarten while at the Elementary, and then moved to my present position - Title I Services at the Middle School. I love teaching and can't imagine any other career being as rewarding! I have two lovely daughters Taylor and Jodie. Taylor is 13 and into sports and rodeos. Jodie is 6 and into cheerleading and dance. My husband is the Superintendent, which keeps us very busy. As a family we are active members of our church and enjoy camping together (when we aren't working at the school!) I personally enjoy reading, cooking/baking, and walking.

Terry Reed

Teacher

I am Terry Reed. I graduated from Ketchum High School in 1980. I have a Bacholar Degree in Elementary Education from NSU in Tahlequah. I have taught at Ketchum Schools for 13 years. Currently, I am teaching 4th and 5th Grade English and Spelling; and I love it!

I've been married for 27 years to Darren, and we have a daughter (Schelle) who is 25. I am an active member in my church, where my husband serves as Deacon. In my"spare" time I enjoy reading, playing piano, and working in my yard. I believe that true learning begins only when a child's needs are met in all areas .Every teacher at some point has been a Mom, Dad, friend, nurse, disciplinarian, or a support system for their students. As I teach at Ketchum Elementary, I continue to be positive and try to reach every student
so learning can begin.
